    Overview

Patch 5 contains a wide array of improvements and upgrades to Espire 2. It introduces weekly challenges which will provide competitive players a chance to prove their skills. The “Weekly Challenge Update” also contains many fixes and changes across the entire game.

    Weekly Challenges

We’re bringing an Espire 1 fan favourite to Espire 2 with Oculus Challenges. Each week a new challenge is curated by the developer that will test your skills. These challenges are picked from our existing Espire Ops destinations and require a specific frame and score target. Compete for bragging rights against your friends or for the top spot on the global leaderboards. Come back to Espire 2 each week for new ways to play the game and compete for the top spot with other Espire fans!

    Matchmaking Improvements

The matchmaking has been improved to match closely located players to ensure the best possible latency available. Meta’s blocking api has also been implemented which will ensure that players will not be matched with accounts they have been blocked through Meta’s platform.

    Player Telemetry

Player behaviour telemetry such as game progression and preferred settings are now collected to help make informed decisions on future development. An option to opt out has been added in the gameplay settings menu.

    Improvements to support Mixed Reality

There have been several large changes to the Espire 2 technical systems to allow for the Mixed Reality update coming in patch 6. The Unreal Engine used for Espire 2 has been upgraded from 4.26 to 4.27 and the graphics api has been switched from OpenGL to Vulkan.
